The following are key excerpts from several fighters at the UFC 115 post-fight press conference:
MIRKO CRO COP
-"I was trying to prove to everyone that I am not old. I worked hard in my training and my conditioning is great. I was really dedicated. I was frustrated in Pride because I did not have great training partners, but now I have good partners."
-"Pat Barry is a nice guy; we sat in the hotel and talked for a hour and half before the fight. I do not need to hate my opponent to fight them. I can talk to you one second before the fight and then come out and try my best to take your head off."
-"At one point in the fight Barry’s finger got stuck under the cage wire and he said to me “stop, stop” I did. I gave him a chance to get his hand unstuck. I do not know if I would have given anybody else that opportunity."
-"He put me on my ass twice in the first round so I do not think that he was trying to show me that much respect. He wanted to beat me and we were both hungry. Part of my game plan was to try and get a submission, people think that I am just a striker, but I have been practicing jiu jitsu for 10 years."
-"I am definitely going to stay with the UFC. I just feel good about this event and I have been in a good mood so I am enjoying the interviews."
PAT BARRY
-"I punched him in the head a few times and got too excited and ended up crushing my finger. I threw two more punches after that and it was jarring pain. I was going to use my right hand a lot; it was part of my game plan, so that went out the window."
-"I knew I let him up; I was not trying to show respect I was just letting him get up to start again. I just fought Cro Cop and no one can ever take that away from me. I know I am going to get a lot of critiquing about this fight. I tapped 5 seconds before the end of the fight."
CARLOS CONDIT
-"I probably lost the first two rounds in the judge’s score cards. He was not hurting me but he was controlling me. I caught him in the third and just kept the pressure on him to get the stoppage. My corner told me that I have to finish him so I just came out with guns a blazing."
MARTIN KAMPMANN
-"I want to fight the guys that are ranked high. Those are the guys that are going to get me closer to a title fight. Paulo was very tough and one of the hardest fights that I have had."
-"I feel comfortable on the ground with anybody. I got labeled as a striker early but I have a great ground game. I want to fight the guys that are high on the rankings."
BEN ROTHWELL
-"I think that the fans and Dana are not happy with the fight and the outcome. I did not finish the fight and that I did not finish I am not happy with myself. I go out to finish and I didn’t so I am going to go home and start training again to fix all of my mistakes."
-"Yvel is strong and a hard hitter so I had to watch out and be very cautious with everything that he was throwing. I am disappointed in the win; the fans mean the most to me. I do not think that fans are happy so I am not. I was in a situation in the third where I thought I could have finished him, but I just could not. Yvel is tough."
EVAN DUNHAM
-"I trained with Tyson and it was great to fight him. I got his back and he is just so hard to submit. I was not trying to delay the fight in any way I was going for the choke, I just could not get it. I had to train super hard for this fight because I knew that Tyson was doing the same with me. Hopefully the fight opened some big doors for me."
