THE TORCH: THE #1 WORLDWIDE BRAND IN COMBAT ENTERTAINMENT COVERAGE - OVER 250 MILLION VIEWS & LISTENS PER YEAR REREACHING MORE FANS EVERY WEEK THAN ANY OTHER INDEPENDENT SOURCE • VIA THE WEB, MOBILE, PRINT NEWSLETTER, AND ITUNES
Thanks for visiting MMATorch.com! MMATorch launched as a website in the early 2000s and was one of the pioneers in online MMA coverage. Dating back to UFC's first PPV, the Torch Newsletter published out of Minnesota covered MMA's earliest events in the United States and its roots dating back to the late 1980s in Japan. The Torch had three credentialed reporters including supervising editor Wade Keller at UFC's first-ever PPV in Las Vegas in 2001.
MMATorch.com is owned by TDH Communications Inc. and run by founder and supervising editor Wade Keller. Keller has trained for a total of more than 15 years in tae kwon do (Mid-America Karate, National Karate), judo, and jiu jitsu (North Star Martial Arts Academy). He holds a double-black strip belt in karate. He has interviewed Dana White, Brock Lesnar, Mike Goldberg, original UFC match-maker Art Davie, and others.
Jamie Penick has been editor-in-chief since May 2008. He covers the news seven days a week, around the clock. He conducts exclusive interviews for MMATorch and hosts audio podcasts nearly every day.
Penick and Keller oversee a contributing staff of over a dozen Columnists and Specialists who contribute regular columns and features throughout each week.
MMATorch launched an iPhone App designed by UIEvolution and is the top ranked independent MMA News & Opinion App in the Apple iTunes Store. It's also customized for smart phones other than the iPhone.
MMATorch.com features around a dozen news updates and features every day. What separate us from the rest of the pack is:
-Every news story is followed by a paragraph or so of analysis putting the news story in perspective and providing a point of view. While other sites tell you what's happening, we tell you why and what we think of it - but separated clearly between straight reporting and well-labelled analysis afterward.
-Live PPV coverage includes our exclusive format providing detailed round-by-round coverage, star ratings giving a shorthand account of how exciting, technically sound, and historically significant the fight turned out to be, details on the post-fight interviews, and our signature "Ramifications" follow-up looking at how the fight outcome change the course of the fighters' respective careers and title picture in their division.
-The best team of columnists in the game, featuring a wide variety of perspectives and backgrounds including Shawn Ennis, Jason Amadi, Bjorn Hansen, Frank Hyden, Anwar Perez, Laramey Leet, Steve Sutcliffe, Sam Matthew, Jason Schielke, and Matt Pelkey.
-Our unique array of "Specialists" covering a specific subject with a focus found nowhere else including: Chris Parks's "UK Scene," Wesley Walkers "Best Bet" fight odds predictions, Eric Hobaugh's "Book Reviews," Bob Teal's "Whatever Happened To...?", Adam Schwartzbard's "Dream Fights," Anthony Berriola's "Styles Clash," and Alvin Benjamin Carter III's "All Business."
-Jamie Penick's "Daily MMA News Podcasts" featuring a concise 10-15 minutes breakdown and analysis of the previous 24 hours of headlines in the world of MMA. Plus the weekly "Audio Choke" podcast!
-Penick & Pelkey host the "MMATorch Sunday Conversation Livecast" every Sunday afternoon fron 2-4 ET (11-1 PT) taking live calls and conducting interviews such as an exclusive with Urijah Faber in March 2010.
We are adding new features and expanding and improving our staff regularly. There are a lot of very good, yet somewhat interchangeable MMA news sources out there. By design, we are not like any other website. Multiple daily visits to MMATorch is sure to provide you with news analysis, unique informative features, exclusive interviews, and hard-hitting opinions from entertaining and knowledegable writers unlike anything you'll find anywhere else.
Visit us on the web on your computer or on your iPhone or other smart phone. Listen to us in iTunes or at BlogTalkRadio.com. Join us on Facebook (Facebook.com/mmatorch) and Twitter (@mmatorch). And spread the word to other MMA fans!

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. Nick Diaz is simply designed to fight the way he fights, and not many other fighters are...
"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
