"I'm (the) middleweight champion and I have to train to defend that belt. That’s what I feel I need to do is to keep fighting in my own weight class and defending the belt that I own... I'm actually far from cleaning out my division. I feel that there may be guys that are even better than me coming into the UFC. And proof that there’s tough guys in my division is Demian Maia right now. We're going to have a great fight. It’s going to be a big fight, a big challenge for me... My biggest motivation is to be the champion of the UFC, the biggest event in the world. I feel right at home in the UFC. Everybody who makes the UFC circuits move makes me feel right at home and very comfortable and I'm very happy where I'm at and I love being the champion. It’s what makes me happy and it’s what motivates me to get the training and get back in the Octagon."

-UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva talks to MMAWeekly.com about his need to defend his Title against a division he feels he hasn't cleaned out.

Penick's Analysis: The middleweight division is highly competitive, and Silva does have some opponents who continue to come up in the division that he'll likely face before eventually moving on to the light heavyweight division. It's good to see him talk about still being happy and motivated to fight in the UFC after recent year's talk that he was coming close to retirement. As long as he stays motivated and happy to fight, fans will have the privilege of seeing him in the Octagon many, many more times.
