Bellator Fighting Championship's season one and two featherweight tournament winners Joe Soto and Joe Warren will face off for the Bellator Featherweight Championship at Bellator 27, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.
Soto won the title by getting through the first season's tournament field, earning $175,000 along the way. He defeated Yahir Reyes, Wilson Reis and Ben Greer to win the tournament, and returned to Bellator in season two, defeating Diego Saraiva with a vicious cut in the first round. He is undefeated at 9-0.
Warren fought the full 45 minutes in three fights during Bellator's second season earlier this year, getting through Eric Marriott, Georgi Karakhanyan and then Patricio "Pitbull" Freire to take the season two crown and the $100,000 that went with it for the season. He is now 5-1 overall in his MMA career.
Bellator 27 will take place from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas on September 2, and will air live or via tape delay on Fox Sports Net.
Penick's Analysis: This should be a highly competitive Featherweight Championship fight. Warren was allowed to survive a first round assault from Freire in the season two finals, and though that fight should have been stopped in the first round he deserves credit for coming back in the second and third round, especially when he was extremely sick all day heading into the fight. His wrestling will allow him to be competitive in any fight, but he'll have a much better striker in Soto to go up against here. I'm very much intrigued by this fight, and it's a good main event for the San Antonio fans.

I am very nervous that Carlos Condit will win on Saturday night, and that I won't be able to fight Nick Diaz this summer. Carlos Condit is a very good fighter, he can strike, he is aggressive and he has submissions...
Georges St-Pierre is the only logical choice for Sonnen, since he's made it clear to the world at large that Anderson Silva wants nothing to do with him. And since everything that comes out of Chael's mouth when hyping a fight can be taken as gospel...
