11/22 UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site tonight:
-I interviewed UFC commentator and former middleweight Brian Stann this week to get his thoughts on tonight's UFC Fight Night 57 event. Excerpt on the Frankie Edgar vs. Cub Swanson main event: “A big part of it is there's going to be some chance involved. Who throws what and when. That game of inches, whether your fist is a little to the right or a little to the left. There's no secret that the power is going to be on the side of Cub Swanson. He's going to want to exchange, and he's going to want to do it early. When we've seen Frankie Edgar get in trouble in his fights is early, when he can be hit, before guys start to tire, because Frankie maintains almost the same speed and pace for five straight rounds.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for more of Stann's comments on Saturday's card.
-In a new roundtable this evening, the crew gives their predictions on the Frankie Edgar vs. Cub Swanson main event on tonight's card. Excerpt from Alvin Carter: “I really want Frankie to have a win because I like his overall durability and boxing, but the reality is he's sort of in the same situation B.J. Penn was in when he dethroned him back in 2010. He is an excellent fighter, but it might be someone else's time. Cub Swanson might be that someone. He is on a six-fight winning against quality competition, and he has finished four of his last six opponents. I think he will knock down Edgar and follow up with a choke (possibly an RNC) to finish with a technical submission (Edgar probably won't tap).” Get the full roundtable on the mobile site now.
-Dustin Ortiz thinks a win tonight over Joseph Benavidez should earn him a shot at the UFC Flyweight Championship. Catch his comments with further analysis on the mobile site.
-Josh Koscheck appears to be heading back to the cage, as he's being targeted for a fight with Neil Magny at UFC 184. More on both fighters into that event with further thoughts on the booking on the mobile site.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
