10/27 MORNING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:
-Dan Moore's back playing matchmaker once again after Saturday's UFC 179 event, picking who should be the next fight for the top winners and losers out of the event. Excerpt on Jose Aldo: “Just as everyone was beginning to seriously doubt his credentials, he goes and puts on a world class performance like that. It takes two to tango, and Chad Mendes was equally superb, but Jose Aldo really stepped up, and proved without doubt he's a consensus top three pound-for-pound fighter. I'll conveniently forget about the end of the first round because everyone else seems to have. He performed so well because Mendes came to fight. Aldo needs and thrives on legitimate competition. Of the three possible next contenders, he's already beaten two of them. Conor McGregor hasn't faced Aldo yet, and is the most likely next contender, but I still believe Swanson or Edgar deserves the next shot more.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full column.
-Cub Swanson said this weekend that the UFC has assured him he'll get a title fight with Jose Aldo if he beats Frankie Edgar next month, but he says he's not going to believe it's a reality until he signs on the dotted line. Catch his comments with further analysis of the situation on the mobile site.
-It's not clear just how many more fights Anderson Silva will actually take, but his career will end inside the Octagon, as the former UFC Champion signed a new 15-fight deal with the organization last week. That replaces the deal he had previously, which still had eight fights total left to go. Get his comments with further thoughts on his future on the mobile site.
-In our morning poll, we wondered how many of our readers would be willing to pay for a third fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes after their excellent fight at UFC 179. 44% are willing to buy it if Mendes earns his way back to that shot, and another 25% are interested if it's on a good pay-per-view card. Get your votes in now!
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
