9/1 AFTERNOON UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this afternoon:

-With the UFC seemingly willfully unable to see why fans have been tuning out and not tuning in for pay-per-view cards, I put together a plan for the UFC's 2015 schedule that I think would work to differentiate the pay-per-view cards they put on from the rest of the schedule. Excerpt: “Now, it doesn't have to be this way, even with the schedule they have. They've stretched themselves thin because they're trying to serve too many masters, and they've lost some focus as far as building the best pay-per-view product they can put on. Heading into 2015, they can make an effort to change that, and it starts with scaling back the number of pay-per-view cards. To be clear, this isn't about scaling back the amount of cards in general, because they can continue their global expansion plans and their desire to put on cards everywhere and anywhere they can. But they may be served a lot better by reducing their pay-per-view schedule from 12 or 13 events a year to eight, running every six to eight weeks while plugging in their free TV events in between.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full column.

-Dana White went into hyperbole mode again regarding the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, saying there's “a Ronda Rousey” amongst the competitors. See his comments, with further analysis on his history of similar statements, on the mobile site now.

-Alistair Overeem responded to criticism of his training with Jon Jones this week, saying there was no intent to cause injury and that the injury just happened through no fault of either of them. Further thoughts on the mobile site now.

-If you took part in the UFC 177 contests last week, head to the main listing for results to see how you fared against the field.

We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
