MONDAY 8/19 NIGHTTIME UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site today:

-Bellator officially granted Eddie Alvarez an unconditional release today, and in very short time, he was snatched up by the UFC. The exiting Bellator Lightweight Champion will make his UFC debut on Sept. 27 at UFC 178 when he takes on Donald Cerrone in the night's co-main event in Las Vegas, a huge debut for the highly exciting competitor. Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for further analysis on the news, with some comments from Alvarez about his entrance into the UFC.

-In today's roundtable, the crew discussed whether or not Alexander Gustafsson should have to fight again now that the Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier bout has been delayed. Most expect him to have to fight again, but there are varying degrees in the responses. Excerpt from Dan Moore: “I feel sorry for Alexander Gustafsson, but there's no way the UFC were going to revert back to Plan A after the Jones and Cormier press conference debacle. He's suffering from the "What have you done for me lately?" syndrome, but it is what it is and now he needs to fight again. To sit on the sidelines for an extended period of time will not do him any good. Fighting Anthony Johnson is a big risk but another win for the Swede will guarantee he's next in line providing Jon Jones doesn't lose the belt next January.” Full roundtable on the mobile site now.

-Speaking of Jon Jones, it was Alistair Overeem who was grappling with him when his knee injury occurred, and now another Jackson-Winkeljohn competitor is taking issue with his training tactics. Andrei Arlovski ripped into Overeem this week in a Russian publication for nearly taking him out of his September main event bout due to overzealous sparring. See Arlovski's take with additional thoughts on the mobile site.

We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
