...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
FRIDAY 7/4 MORNING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site today:
-My UFC 175 preview is now live, with my breakdown for the main card and Faber-Caceres from the prelims, along with predictions for the full card. Quick picks for the main card are Weidman, Rousey, Struve, Hall, and Doane. See the breakdowns of those fights with reasoning for my picks in the main listing of our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser now!
-In another breakdown of the main event tomorrow night, Kale Havervold goes point by point for the Weidman-Machida matchup. Excerpt: “Though seen as primarily a wrestler, Chris Weidman is also a brown belt in BJJ, and has some impressive finishes via submission. His top game is very good, and his strength really helps him in the clinch as well. He is also very aggressive and willing to take risks in the grappling game, which is very impressive, and could be a factor in this fight should it go to the ground.” See his full breakdown in the main listing.
-Weigh-in results are in the main listing for both of tomorrow's events, the WSOF 11 card from Daytona Beach, Fla., and UFC 175 from Las Vegas.
-Weidman thinks Machida is going to be his biggest test in the division, even bigger than Anderson Silva, and that's a sentiment I kind of share. Machida, down from 205 lbs., may not be quite as dynamic in his striking game as Silva, but his defense is superb, and stylistically he's a much different test for Weidman. Catch the Champ's comments with further thoughts in the main listing.
-Jon Fitch and Rousimar Palhares once again exchanged comments in separate interviews after Fitch said it was “disgusting” that Palhares didn't take the NBC fight, because he's fighting anyway despite his dad needing surgery this week. Palhares says he should just tend to his dad as Palhares has tended to his ailing mother. More from both in the main listing now.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
