TUESDAY 5/20 MORNING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what hit the site this morning:
-New Interim Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks went on a bit of a rant on Twitter regarding the unequal treatment for some fighters in the organization. He's since clarified that he was sticking up for the rest of the roster, but he says he's out to bring change to the organization “or get fired” trying. He might not be in the spot to do so, but it's admirable that he's speaking out. It is, though, yet another example of the growing discontent amongst some on the Bellator roster. See Brooks' full Twitter rant with further analysis in the main listing at the new and improved MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser.
-Gray Maynard considered retirement after his second straight stoppage loss last fall, but he's going to try to get back on track this summer. Maynard will take on Fabricio Camoes at UFC 176 in Los Angeles this August, with both fighters in desperate need of a win. More details in the main listing now.
-Anderson Silva spoke to Brazil's SporTV this week about the eight fights left on his UFC contract, and he said he isn't sure he'll “be in the mood” to keep fighting for that long. At this stage it's impossible to know where his head will be at a year from now or two years from now, so he'll be taking it a fight at a time. See his comment with further analysis in the main listing.
-In our morning poll today, we asked readers who should be the next opponent for Rampage Jackson in Bellator. 34% of respondents don't care as they don't plan to watch him in the organization, while the rest of the responses were mixed between Emanuel Newton, Tito Ortiz, or a rematch with “King Mo” Lawal. 28% think he should fight Newton as that's the point of putting him in the tournament, 24% are interested in the Ortiz fight, while the remaining 14% think he lost to Lawal and should rematch him. Get your votes in now.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
