How do you see the fight between Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick playing out?

RICH HANSEN, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

Mark Hominick will expose some chinks in the armor of Jose Aldo, and maybe even reveal a fully functional blueprint to defeat Aldo, but he's not going to pull off the upset.  In my opinion, after a harder than expected struggle, Aldo will finish Hominick in the championship rounds of their fight.

ERIC HOBAUGH, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Mark Hominick keeps saying Jose Aldo has not fought the type of striker he is.  I basically agree with that statement, but it won't matter.  Aldo is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.  His overall game is at such a high level, Hominick will have trouble with Aldo both standing and on the ground.  Seven of Aldo's last eight fights have either been KO's or TKO's. I think Hominick gets knocked out early in this fight.

FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I expect big time fireworks in this fight. I can't see it going past the 2nd round, if even that far. I won't be surprised no matter who wins, but I expect Aldo to get the TKO stoppage.

JASON AMADI, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

I believe this is the type of fight that is going to be much closer than people realize, if it’s contested on the feet. When fighters are dominant, fans like to look at them and pretend that they’re crushing their contemporaries with magic. Jose Aldo is a phenomenal striker, but so is Mark Hominick. Aldo has looked like a killer on the feet (and he his) but he’s been facing Mike Brown, Urijah Faber, and Manny Gamburyan. Hominick is an incredibly technical striker with crushing body shots, and good footwork. He could definitely give Aldo a run for his money, but I think Aldo’s submission prowess is what might ultimately do the “Machine” in.

ALVIN CARTER, MMATORCH SPECIALIST

I see Hominick wanting to push the pace, and I see Aldo right there along with him.  The only difference is that Aldo will bring more power to the table on the feet.  I see this being a TKO victory for Aldo late in the first round or early in the second.

CHRIS PARK, MMATORCH UK SPECIALIST

Mark Hominick is a great fighter, very exciting, and loves to finish fights. I have heard comments coming from his camp that Jose Aldo has not faced a striker of Hominick's level. And while I am inclined to agree with this, I personally feel that Mark Hominick has not faced an opponent anywhere near the level of Aldo.

Yes Hominick has the experience, but Jose Aldo is something else, and I see him officially introducing himself to the UFC with an absolute bang. I feel this one will end early and violently in favour Jose Aldo.

ANWAR PEREZ, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

Jose Aldo will have no problems taking care of Mark Hominick and I honestly see Aldo taking him out no later than the 3rd round.  Aldo is easily on the level of the best of the best in MMA and will have no problems here as he steamrolls through another opponent.

ALEX WILLIAMS, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Jose Aldo should defeat Mark Hominick anyway he wants.  Hominick is a good striker, but Aldo is better, and Aldo is vastly superior on the ground.  I think Aldo lights him up standing.

MATT PELKEY, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

Fun while it lasts. This really may be Aldo's toughest style match-up in the division, at least as far as current contenders are concerned. Hominick has fantastic striking and a great chin, and he may actually be able to land some shots on Aldo. I expect at least one dicey sequence for Aldo in the early going before he settles in and asserts himself as the better fighter. Aldo by decision.
