Who wins the Frankie Edgar vs. Cub Swanson main event at UFC Fight Night 57, and how? Should the winner get the next shot at Jose Aldo?

ALVIN CARTER, MMATORCH SPECIALIST

I really want Frankie to have a win because I like his overall durability and boxing, but the reality is he's sort of in the same situation B.J. Penn was in when he dethroned him back in 2010. He is an excellent fighter, but it might be someone else's time. Cub Swanson might be that someone. He is on a six-fight winning against quality competition, and he has finished four of his last six opponents. I think he will knock down Edgar and follow up with a choke (possibly an RNC) to finish with a technical submission (Edgar probably won't tap). Swanson could get the knockout outright, but Edgar is durable, and following up with a flurry of strikes or a submission seems the most realistic prediction.

FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I think Swanson takes it. Neither guy has fought much lately and both have great records, with their losses coming to high-level competition, but Swanson is two years younger, and I think that plays a role in this fight. Edgar has been in a lot of wars, and I'm sure that's taken a toll on him. I like Edgar, but I think Swanson finishes him by strikes in the fourth round. This should be a great fight, I know I'm excited for it.

KALE HAVERVOLD, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I think Frankie Edgar will pick up the win. His cardio, movement, and wrestling should get him a victory. Of course, Cub is extremely explosive and hits very hard, and I could see him pulling it off, but I believe Edgar will get it done. And yes, I believe the winner of this fight should get the next shot at Aldo.

BRAD WALKER, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

My brain tells me Edgar is going to get away with a win here, but I'm a huge cub Swanson fan so I want to see him take home a solid W, and finally get the title opportunity he so solidly deserves. So I'm going to say Swanson shocks the world with a KO.

TOM STRONG, MMATORCH UK CONTRIBUTOR

I'm really torn on this fight; being an admirer of both Edgar and Cub I don't want to see either of them lose. Still, I have to favour Edgar in this fight. He's been there and done it. Cub has fallen short when he's faced the finest in the division, with defeats to Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes, and his last defeat coming at the hands of Ricardo Lamas.

I'm sure Cub has improved since that last loss three years ago, though it won't be enough to beat Frankie Edgar. Edgar has shown in the past, especially against Gray Maynard, that he can take a lot of punishment and still find a way to be victorious.

Unless Edgar has lost his durability, it's his fight to lose; whatever is to happen it's going to be one fun filled fight.

I'll make this scenario very simple. Cub win = Title shot, Edgar win = Conor McGregor Title shot.

Prediction: Edgar UD
