Erick Silva's last appearance in the Octagon ended in an extremely controversial disqualification loss after landing shots to the back of the head on Carlo Prater, but there was no such controversy against Charlie Brenneman at UFC on FX 3, as the Brazilian prospect submitted the wrestler on Friday night in Sunrise, Fla.
Brenneman pressed early and often with his wrestling game, but a combination of improved takedown defense and scrambling ability brought Silva to his feet every time. Then he hurt Brenneman with a few kicks to the body, and after Brenneman shot in again for a takedown, Silva sprawled, took his back, and applied a rear naked choke in quick succession.
Brenneman was forced to tap fairly quickly, marking his third loss in the UFC, and second in his last three fights. For Silva, he's now got his second win in the UFC, with the sole loss being that controversial DQ.
