Strikeforce returns to Columbus, Ohio, on March 3, one year after the final event prior to Zuffa's purchase of the organization. The organization will not have an event in April, but will return this May to their former home base at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. in May, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.
The event will come on May 19, and will be the first Strikeforce event at the venue since coming under new management. The HP Pavilion hosted 12 of Strikeforce's first 17 events, and was a regular home for the organization for several years. After purchasing Strikeforce, the UFC then ran an event at the HP Pavilion for the first time ever, bringing November's UFC 139 card to San Jose.
No fights are yet set for the event, though it could host the finals of the Strikeforce Heavyweight World Grand Prix between Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett, as well as Nate Marquardt's Strikeforce debut, expected to be against Tyron Woodley. That bout could be for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight Championship.
