Fabricio Werdum made an impressive return to the UFC on Saturday at UFC 143, bludgeoning Roy Nelson for three rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory.
The assault began in the first round, when Werdum attacked Nelson with a series of knees in the clinch to the face and body that sapped much of "Big Country's" energy immediately. Nelson's a tough out, however, and Werdum had to stay on his game throughout the 15 minute fight, keeping the pressure on and hurting him when he had the opportunity.
It was Werdum's first win inside the Octagon since defeating Brandon Vera at UFC 85 in June of 2008. For Nelson, it was his third loss in his last four fights, and he's taken significant damage in each of them.
