It was perhaps more difficult than most expected, but Ed Herman submitted Clifford Starks on Saturday night at UFC 143 to win his third straight fight in the last eight months.
Starks showed off an improved striking game, winning the first round with some damaging blows and pressing the pace on Herman. However, Herman took over in the second round, pulling off a great trip takedown into side control.
He then passed to mount, and took Starks' back in quick fashion. He locked on the rear naked choke, and forced Starks to tap. It was Herman's third win since returning from a near two-year layoff, and the loss marks the first in Starks' career.
