Just days after the UFC announced that Brandon Vera would meet Thiago Silva for a second time this May, now comes word that the fight is off. The organization announced on Saturday afternoon that Vera has suffered an injury taking him out of the UFC on FX 3 event.
Vera was defeated by Silva at UFC 125 last January, but Silva then failed a drug test, making the fight a no contest and putting him out of action the rest of 2011. This fight was to be his first bout since finishing his year-long suspension.
He'll still return on the card, however, as the organization is currently searching for a replacement opponent for that event, which will come to Fairfax, Va. on May 15.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
