The much talked about rematch between Eddie Alvarez and Shinya Aoki will take place in Bellator Fighting Championships this April, according to a report from BloodyElbow.com.
Alvarez decided against entering Bellator's season six tournament to work towards a rematch against Michael Chandler, instead going after vengeance for a loss suffered in 2008 to Aoki. The venue for the fight hadn't been determined previously, but according to the BE report, it will indeed take place in Bellator, and Aoki has signed on for the fight already.
Aoki submitted Alvarez on New Year's Eve 2008 in Japan, locking on a heel hook in the first round to hand Alvarez what was, at the time, only his second career loss. He would win his next seven fights before his upset at the hands of Chandler in November.
