The UFC handed out $65,000 bonuses to four fighters on Saturday night for their efforts on Saturday's UFC on Fox 2 card, and all of them went to fighters on the preliminary card.
Former Strikeforce heavyweight and UFC newcomer Lavar Johnson took home the "Knockout of the Night" award for his first round stoppage of Joey Beltran. The impressively brutal finish had all the more impact considering Beltran had never been stopped by strikes in his career.
The "Submission of the Night" was also the highlight of the entire card, as Charles Oliveira pulled off a nasty calf slicer submission that forced Eric Wisely to tap in agony. It was a highly unique, and absolutely destructive, submission hold, and Oliveira made it a successful featherweight debut.
"Fight of the Night" honors went to lightweights Evan Dunham and Nik Lentz for an excellent two round fight. Dunham pressed in with strikes throughout, but Lentz held his own and connected on a number of nice combinations. Then, in the second round, Dunham got Lentz to the ground and landed a vicious elbow that swelled the bottom lid of Lentz's left eye, as well as slicing it open. The cut and swelling was too much, and doctors called the fight off after the second frame.
