In a somewhat surprising move, the UFC has cut featherweight Junior Assuncao after a loss to Ross Pearson by decision in his last fight. That loss came after a win in his return to the UFC last September.
Assuncao revealed his situation on Twitter, and wasn't completely understanding of why the cut came about after Dana White told him the fight was good.
"I just got cut from the UFC,” Assuncao wrote. “Apparently they did not like my last fight... I'm not in control of all this. My manager said it will be ok. Was in a good win streak before the last fight. Sorry guys."
"The boss (Dana White) himself told me the fight was good, got a performance [bonus], was in a good win streak before that last fight. I don't understand."
