The first main event for the UFC on FX went about as expected on Friday night, with Jim Miller choking out Melvin Guillard in the first round to bounce back from a loss to Ben Henderson in his last fight.
Guillard was having success early, hurting Miller with a series of knees to the body and combinations to the head. Unfortunately for him, it was only a matter of time before the fight hit the ground, and then it was all Miller's game.
After eating yet another knee, Miller scored a takedown, and as Guillard tried to scramble, Miller took his back, locked on a neck crank and dropped down. He transitioned that to the rear naked choke, and Guillard was forced to submit for the sixth time in his UFC career.
Miller picked up his tenth win inside the Octagon, with his only UFC losses coming to Ben Henderson and Gray Maynard. Guillard has now lost two straight after his five fight win streak had him near title contention last year, and he's back to reevaluation mode.
