After dropping the first round to Eric "Red" Schafer at UFC on FX 1 on Friday, Jorge Rivera ended his career on a high note with a second round TKO win in Nashville, Tenn.
Rivera was completely out-grappled by Schafer in the first, getting taken down and out-worked for the entire five minute frame. But starting the second, he stuffed a takedown attempt, then began unleashing strikes that had Schafer hurting.
He continued the assault against the cage, with referee Herb Dean allowing Schafer every opportunity to fight back. He was only able to cover up, and the fight was finally stopped.
Rivera finishes his MMA career with a 20-9 overall record, with an 8-7 mark in 15 fights in the UFC. Schafer has now lost four straight fights in the UFC, with his sole loss in his last five bouts coming outside of the organization.
