Jorge Rivera's MMA career will come to an end Friday night, win or lose at UFC on FX 1. The 39-year-old headlines the Fuel TV preliminary card portion of the event in Nashville, Tenn., taking on Eric "Red" Schafer. It was announced at the outset of the Fuel broadcast that the bout will be Rivera's last, as he's decided to retire regardless of what happens in the fight.
Rivera made his first appearance in the UFC over eight years ago, defeating David Loiseau at UFC 44. Since that bout, he's appeared 13 more times in three different stints in the organization, compiling an even 7-7 mark inside the Octagon. Entering Friday's event, Rivera had lost two straight, losing to Michael Bisping and Constantinos Philippou in 2011.
