Frankie Edgar has had two of the great comeback performances in UFC history in 2011 with his draw with and subsequent fourth round TKO over Gray Maynard at UFC 125 and UFC 136, but for his upcoming bout with Ben Henderson, he's hoping he can avoid that type of first round beating. In a press conference for the UFC 144 event, Edgar said that while he'd like a quick fight, ultimately a win is what matters (via MMAWeekly.com):
"I'd like it to be a quick fight, but that doesn't seem how it goes for me... I'm not trying to make a habit of it, taking the punishment I've been taking in the last couple of fights. It's like a cat has nine lives and I don't know how many lives I have to get out of that first round if that happens again... It does make for exciting TV, and it's definitely building my legend. As long as I come out the victor, I'll get beat up for four or five rounds. As long as I come out the winner, I'll do it every time."
