In the first of two The Ultimate Fighter finals fights, John Dodson clubbed Team Alpha Male product T.J. Dillashaw in the first round to win the bantamweight tournament and secure the "six-figure" UFC contract that comes with it.
Dillashaw came out aggressive landing some leg kicks, but it didn't take Dodson long to find his range with his punches. He dropped him once with a left hand early and then again with a left forearm to the side of the head that left Dillashaw on shaky legs. Dodson followed up with a cleaner punch that sent Dillashaw to the mat, where referee Herb Dean stepped in after only one hammerfist from Dodson.
A portion of the crowd booed the decision as they felt it was a bit premature on the stoppage, but Dodson will be doing his signature laugh all the way to the bank. It was the first defeat for Dillashaw, who started his career with four straight wins. Dodson, a natural flyweight, enters the UFC's bantamweight division undersized, but over-quicked.
