An undisclosed injury to Tim Kennedy has taken him out of a discussed fight with Luke Rockhold for the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship in January, according to a report from MMAFighting.com.
In an example of the complete lack of depth at 185 lbs. in Strikeforce, the report states that Keith Jardine has been tapped for that fight.
Jardine, the former longtime UFC light heavyweight, has never competed at middleweight, has fought just once in Strikeforce in a draw against Gegard Mousasi that should have been a loss even with a point deduction to Mousasi, and has won just three of his last ten fights.
Rockhold, meanwhile, captured the belt in September in his first fight in 18 months, defeating Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza by decision. The 27-year-old is 8-1 in his MMA career, and has stopped seven of those fights in the first round.
