The future of Strikeforce as a promotion is still in limbo as everyone awaits the decision of Showtime and new owners Zuffa on whether their television deal will continue on. However, they've still got a couple of months left for sure, and the Champions remaining in the organization may all defend their titles at least once more. The December 17 card features a Lightweight title bout between Gilbert Melendez and Jorge Santiago, as well as women's champ Cris Cyborg in action. Now, newly crowned Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold has told Tatame.com that expects to defend the belt in January:
"I think Tim Kennedy is out there, and from what I've been told, that's probably my next fight. Nothing's official, but they told me to get into train camp and get ready. So, I'm thinking January I'll be fighting and, most probably, it'll be Tim Kennedy... I also heard that Strikeforce might survive. Like I said, nothing's official, it's all hearsay. I look forward going to the UFC. I think me, Kennedy and Jacare would be very well in the UFC. I think we're on the way to go."
