The California State Athletic Commission handed down medical suspensions to 13 fighters on Saturday's UFC 139 card in San Jose, and revealed the suspensions to several outlets on Monday night. As expected, Dan Henderson and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua received the longest layoffs after their five round war, as they were handed six month suspensions, though each can be cleared earlier. However, they're out a minimum of two months for the exhausting fight. The list of suspensions is below:
* Dan Henderson: 180 day suspension, 180 days no contact for possible fracture to right thumb, minimum 60 days no contact for a "hard bout," can be cleared with MRI/CT scan
* Mauricio Rua: 180 day suspension, 180 days no contact for possible facial and skull fracture, 45 day suspension with 30 days no contact for a "hard bout," minimum 60 day suspension with no contact for eyebrow laceration
* Michael McDonald: 180 day suspension, 180 days no contact for possible fracture on right ring finger
* Gleison Tibau: 180 day suspension, 180 days no contact for possible fracture on right thumb, can be cleared with x-ray
* Wanderlei Silva: 60 day suspension, 60 days no contact for eyebrow laceration, can be cleared early by physician
* Martin Kampmann: 60 day suspension, 60 days no contact for forehead and right eyebrow laceration, can be cleared early by physician
* Rick Story: 60 day suspension, 60 days no contact for chin laceration, can be cleared early by physician
* Cung Le: 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for TKO loss and 60 day suspension, 60 days no contact for possible nasal fracture, can be cleared early by physician
* Brian Bowles: 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for submission loss
* Jason Brilz: 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for TKO loss
* Alex Soto: 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for TKO loss
* Tom Lawlor: 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for submission loss
* Shamar Bailey: 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for TKO loss
