Though UFC President Dana White was surely hoping that veteran referee Herb Dean would get the assignment for next weekend's UFC on Fox main event between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos for the UFC Heavyweight Title, it appears he will not get his wish.
According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, the California State Athletic Commission has informed the UFC that "Big" John McCarthy is "99 percent" likely to get the assignment next weekend.
The fight headlines a card from the Honda Center in Anaheim next Saturday night, and is the sole bout to be broadcast in the UFC's historic network television debut.
