Bart Palaszewski made the most of his UFC debut, knocking out Tyson Griffin in the first round at UFC 137 on Saturday night.
Griffin failed to make weight for the featherweight contest, coming in at 149 lbs., and though he began the fight by scoring on leg kicks and short combinations, a left hook from Palaszewski halfway through the first round turned things against him.
After cracking him with the initial strike, he landed another staggering left hook and then began unloading strikes against the cage. In the midst of the flurry, Griffin ate a big right hand and went down hard, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
The loss was Griffin's fourth in his last five fights, while Palaszewski starts anew at 145 lbs. with a big win.
