Chael Sonnen has never held back on his feelings about UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, but after Silva took out Sonnen's one-time opponent and now friend and training partner Yushin Okami at UFC 134, Sonnen said it's come to a point where he has to recognize Silva's accomplishments in the cage.
"He ducked Yushin Okami for years, but then he went in there and he made it look easy," Sonnen said during a media conference call for UFC 136 on Friday. "If you'd ask me to concede that Anderson Silva is better than me, never. I'd refer you to the tape."
"But the fact of the matter, whether I like to admit it or not, is he's done a better job than anybody, he's done a better job than me, and he's the champion. That's not going to stop me from sticking my finger in his chest, but at some point fairness has to kick in, and you have to look at what he's done, and tip your hat to him."
