UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar has become somewhat of the "Rodney Dangerfield" of Champions in the organization, not getting his due respect from many sides despite two victories over B.J. Penn and a gutsy performance in battling back to a draw against Gray Maynard in January. Now, ahead of their rematch next week at UFC 136, Edgar says the respect is going to come.
"Respect's coming," Edgar said during a media conference call on Friday. "It's going to keep growing the better I do and the longer I keep this belt. I try to come into every fight with a chip on my shoulder."
"My biggest thing between every fight is to try to become a better fighter than I was in my last fight, and I feel like I accomplished that for [this fight]."
