Jonathan Brookins and Erik Koch fought to a decision in an immensely disappointing fight on Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 25 "Battle on the Bayou."
Koch took the unanimous decision with scores of 30-27, 29-28 and 30-27, but the uninspiring fight all around had fans booing by the final horn.
Brookins attempted to bring the fight to the ground throughout the 15 minute duration, but Koch's takedown defense was superb and he kept the fight standing. However, that led to long stretches of little to no action against the cage in the clinch, and that inaction wasn't entertaining to watch.
When the fight was contested on the feet, Koch had the advantage, and out-struck Brookins throughout. In the end, the striking swayed the judges over the clinch work, and Koch won his second straight UFC fight.
