In the opening bout of Saturday's UFC Fight Night 25 "Battle on the Bayou" card, TUF 13's Justin Edwards defeated UFC newcomer Jorge Lopez by decision with scores of 29-28 across the board.
Edwards was the aggressor through the first two rounds, out-striking Lopez and taking him down a number of times. On the ground, Edwards did damage with his ground and pound as well.
Lopez had some good moments in the third round, taking Edwards down, gaining the mount and delivering some good strikes on the ground as he had Edwards flattened. But it was not enough, as he failed to stop the fight, and ended the bout defending multiple submission attempts from Edwards.
The win was Edwards' first in the UFC after losing his debut to Clay Harvison back in June.
