Almeida stepped back and landed a few nice elbows. He is still on Brown against the cage. He landed another elbow. He tried a throw and gave up his back as he couldn't complete it. ROUND TWO: Brown came forward right away and tried to land a strike but he missed. Almeida shot in and got the takedown, but Brown nicely scooted back to the cage and walked back up to his feet. Almeida took him down again. Brown worked back up to his feet and they clinched again. Almeida landed a couple of short strikes and they're still battling for position. The ref separated them again. Almeida caught a kick and dropped Brown with a shot and followed him to the ground. ALmeida got his back. Brown rolled over and Almeida nearly got mount. Almeida stayed on him and got his back again. He got the rear naked choke in with a body triangle and forced the tap.

WINNER: Almeida via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:30 of the second round.

POST FIGHT: Almeida said the cut was hell, but he's here to stay. He said he wanted to to come in and bully him and that's what he was able to do.

STAR RATING: (**+) It was an absolute stalemate before the last couple of minutes, and Almeida was highly impressive in taking over the fight and grabbing the body triangle to get that choke locked on.

RAMIFICATIONS: Almeida is a force no matter what weight he's at, and the cut to 170 lbs. seems to not have affected him in any negative manner. Brown was just beaten by the better fighter tonight, but he'll be back in the mix.

-Joe Rogan talks to GSP backstage, and Georges said he's been waiting for the challenge for a long time and he's ready to get back into the cage. He says he felt small against Alves and that's why he's putting on some weight, so he's not looking to move to 185 lbs. yet.

FIGHT TWO: NATE DIAZ VS. RORY MARKHAM (WELTERWEIGHT)

Markham's getting beat up and Diaz locks on the body triangle. He flattens Markham out and unleashes a ton of punches. He's beating the hell out of Markham and finally the ref stops it. That was an excellent performance by Nate Diaz.

WINNER: Diaz via TKO at 2:47 of the first round.

POST FIGHT: Diaz said he felt good and the weight wasn't anything to make. He thanked everyone on his team.

STAR RATING: (**+) Excellent dominating performance by Diaz. He looked better at 170 lbs. than he has in the UFC at 155 lbs.

RAMIFICATIONS: Diaz keeps himself around for awhile after another win. He might find a future here at 170 lbs., as he looked a lot better than in any of his last number of fights. Granted, it was against a fighter that didn't offer any wrestling advantage, but it was still a good performance.

-Hardy is interviewed backstage by Joe Rogan. He said he didn't want to come in too small and he gained some weight in the fight. He said people can't stay on top forever, and at some point you've got to take a setback.

-Dana White comes in cageside to talk about the main event. He said Dan Hardy isn't what they expected after watching him on the Primetime show. He said the key for GSP is to get Hardy down and up against the fence and pounding him out.

He talked up how in shape and ready for this fight Frank Mir is as well. He also talks about Carwin and then Ben Saunders calling him up and asking for the fight with Jon Fitch.

PRELIM FIGHT A: ROUSIMAR PALHARES VS. TOMASZ DRWAL

ROUND ONE: Drwal circles around and Palhares stays patient on the outside himself. Drwal slips as he tries to throw a kick and Palhares jumps on him, grabs a leg lock and forces a quick tap from Drwal, who is in intense pain. Man that was brutal.

WINNER: Palhares via submission (heel hook) at :45 of the first round

POST FIGHT: Palhares apologized, saying he didn't want to hurt Drwal, but he was waiting for the ref to stop him.

STAR RATING: (*+) Highly unfortunate for Drwal, who was exposed after a slip. Palhares just destroyed his leg.

WINNER: Miller via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

STAR RATING: (***) That was a very exciting fight with some great back and forth action. The last two minutes of the second round were incredible, and Miller's ability to hold off that takedown was great to watch.

RAMIFICATIONS: Miller picks up another win and quietly continues his ascent up the ladder. Bocek will be back. It's a setback but he still looked good.

FIGHT FOUR: BEN SAUNDERS VS. JON FITCH (WELTERWEIGHT)

WINNER: Fitch via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Hardy said all he could say is it was an honor to fight him and he could see why GSP is the Champion. Hardy said he doesn't know the meaning of tap.
