Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Uyenoyama. Close round, close to a 10-10. Case can be made for Harris with the takedown, but he didn't have any offense on the ground and almost got caught in a triangle. Add Uyenoyama's aggression and striking late, he takes it slightly.

WINNER: Uyenoyama via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:38 of the second round

STAR RATING: (**) Good finish from Uyenoyama. Tentative action on the feet and in the clinch, but they had some good work on the ground, and Uyenoyama looked very good from top position in ultimately securing that RNC.

WINNER: Nunes via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

STAR RATING: (***+) Fantastic, fantastic stuff, elevated by Palaszewski nearly coming back in the final frame only to be knocked down late. I don't see how one judge gave him any round there, but regardless, Nunes looked very good in that fight in securing an important and impressive win.

FIGHT THREE: JACOB VOLKMANN VS. SHANE ROLLER (LIGHTWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Volkmann came out throwing kicks to the legs and body. He landed a hard kick to the midsection and continued moving forward. He landed another hard body shot, then went for a takedown. He grabbed the rear naked choke and wrenched it tight. Roller tried to fight out of it, but he was forced to tap.

WINNER: Volkmann via submission (rear naked choke) 2:38 of the first round

STAR RATING: (***) That was easily Volkmann's best performance in the Octagon, and it couldn't have come at a better time, or in front of a better crowd (for him). Excellent, excellent work, and kept the energy up for what has been a very good preliminary card thus far.

FIGHT FOUR: MARCUS LEVESSEUR VS. CARLO PRATER (LIGHTWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: LeVesseur missed a big overhand right and Prater grabbed a body lock. LeVesseur held off the takedown attempt as the clinch brought them to the cage. LeVesseur went for a takedown, but Prater stuffed it. The round ended in the clinch after a few more knees.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Prater. He was determining where the action took place that round, and though LeVesseur defended well, he needed to defend a couple of bad spots. Close round though.

LeVesseur popped his head out, then teed off on Prater as they stood. Prater backed off after avoiding much of the attack. LeVesseru countered a kick and landed a right. He shot in for another takedown, with Prater again holding onto his head. They held in that position as the round came to an end.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-10. Neither had the edge in the striking department, and while LeVesseur secured a couple of takedowns, he had to defend submission attempts each time out.

ROUND THREE: Prater landed an early inside leg kick. He went high as LeVesseur threw a right. They each missed high kicks. Another clinch was engaged and it was back to the fence again. Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 LeVesseur. Prater's chokes weren't anything that round, and he got out-struck in the final frame. Not a good fight.

WINNER:LeVesseur via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

STAR RATING: (*) Not a good fight. Extended clinch battles that went nowhere, choke attempts that weren't on tight, avoidance of striking on Prater's part. Ugly fight.

FIGHT FIVE: AARON SIMPSON VS. MIKE PIERCE (WELTERWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: They exchanged strikes briefly before locking up in an immediate clinch. And it's round four of the last fight to kick this one off. Simpson landed a knee. They broke off. He locked on a choke, then moved it to mount, and Pierce turtled as the round came to an end.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Simpson. That was a very tedious start, but Simpson really picked it up in the final couple of minutes to take the round.

ROUND TWO: Simpson threw a kick to the body early. He seemed a lot looser than in the first. Pierce tried to initiate a clinch and Simpson shrugged him off. Pierce then landed a straight right counter-punch that knocked Simpson down; he then followed it with a couple strikes on the ground and the fight was over. Wow! Huge comeback from Pierce after getting beat up in the first round.

WINNER: Pierce via KO at :29 of the second round

STAR RATING: (**+) Much better than anyone expected it to be. It started as expected in a bit of a standoff clinch battle, then Simpson picked things up with a big strike midway through the first that set up a big flurry of offense to finish the frame. However, he didn't put him out, and Pierce pulled off the major comeback with a nasty straight right in the second round. Excellent finish.

FIGHT SIX: MICHAEL JOHNSON VS. DANNY CASTILLO (LIGHTWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Johnson threw out a few feints early. Johnson connected on a body kick. Castillo landed a hard leg kick. Castillo landed a punch to the body. Castillo knocked Johnson down with a straight right that got through. Johnson tried to cover up as Castillo landed a series of strikes on the ground. Castillo then passed to mount, and tried to set up an arm triangle choke. He passed to side control, but it wasn't in fully. Castillo passed back to mount and tried to secure it from the top. Johnson got out of the hold and regained half guard. I'm very surprised Johnson survived there. Castillo landed a couple of body punches. Johnson tried to scramble, but Castillo stayed on him against the cage. Johnson landed an elbow from the bottom. Castillo tried to posture up. Johnson kicked him off, but Castillo was right back on him. Castillo ended the round on top in half guard.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-8 Castillo. The fact that Johnson survived is impressive, but that round was still all Castillo. He nearly had that arm triangle on after almost scoring a knockout. Big round for Castillo to start things here.

ROUND TWO: Johnson came out more aggressive with his kicks. He landed a left. He stuffed a takedown attempt. Johnson went high with a kick that was blocked. He landed a hard leg kick. Johnson popped in with a couple of jabs. Castillo then landed a leg kick. Johnson then landed a short counter left that hit the button and knocked Castillo down. Johnson dropped some gigantic bombs on the ground and Castillo went out cold. Two huge comeback KOs in a row.

WINNER: Johnson via KO at 1:06 of the second round

STAR RATING: (***) Just another really good fight on this card. Castillo had a huge first round, scoring a knockdown and nearly locking on a fight-ending submission. Johnson somehow survived, then came back with a huge finish of his own in the second. Just great action from both, and a huge finish from Johnson.

-Prior to the FX broadcast portion of the show, Dana White went on Fuel and confirmed what we've been hearing, which is that Jeremy Stephens is still currently in jail. White said they are working on trying to get him released, and he'll fight Yves Edwards on the FX card if that happens.

FIGHT SEVEN: JOSH NEER VS. JUSTIN EDWARDS (WELTERWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Edwards landed an early leg kick, rushed Neer with several strikes and shot in for a takedown. He was stuffed, and they battled in the clinch. Neer picked Edwards up, and Edwards locked on a guillotine choke. The hold was on tight, and Neer went out cold. When Neer came to, he had no idea what had just happened. Well, that was unexpected, but nice instincts by Edwards as Neer was picking him up to lock on that chokehold.

WINNER: Edwards via technical submission (guillotine choke) at :45 of the first round

STAR RATING: (**) All credit to Edwards on that one. He rushed Neer, initiated the grappling, and locked on the choke when Neer tried to turn it around on him. He got it on tight, dropped to guard, and Neer went out. Nice, unexpected finish.

FIGHT EIGHT: JOHN DODSON VS. JUSSIER FORMIGA (FLYWEIGHT)

Dodson tried to wind up a big left but it missed and he was grazed by the counter punch that time. Dodson again landed a body punch. The action didn't pick up for awhile off the tentative start. Dodson landed a hard punch to the leg, then backed away. Dodson continued working the body. He feinted a body shot and went for a hook, but it didn't land flush. Formiga shot in again and got stuffed. Formiga landed a right. The crowd booed again. Dodson caught a kick. Dodson landed a couple of punches as the round ended to boos.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Dodson. He was out-striking Formiga throughout, mostly to the body. There wasn't much else to the round, though. Very slow start and the crowd was not into it.

ROUND TWO: Both threw some feinted strikes to start the second round. Dodson landed a jab, but Formiga connected on the counter. Dodson missed a right but shrugged off the takedown attempt. The crowd continued booing the bout. It's been a glorified sparring session to this point. Dodson blocked a big right from Formiga. Dodson landed a left as Formiga engaged. Dodson missed a few uppercut attempts. He landed a short strike and shrugged off another takedown attempt. Dodson dropped Formiga with a strike, then went on the offensive on ther ground. Formiga scrambled and got back to his feet, and that brought the crowd back into it. Dodson tried to stalk. And the crowd went back to booing after that sequence ended and they went back to more of the same. Dodson scored a second knockdown, then continued landing strikes on the ground. This time Formiga could only cover up and the fight was stopped. That got people cheering again. Good finish.

WINNER: Dodson via TKO at 4:35 of the second round

STAR RATING: (**) Prior to the finish that was turning out to be a tedious fight with very little action. Indeed, it was turning out to be almost a sparring match. That changed in the final minutes, and Dodson showcased his power with two great knockdowns and a nice finishing sequence at the end.

FIGHT NINE: JAKE ELLENBERGER VS. JAY HIERON (WELTERWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Both fighters circled each other early, taking their time before engaging. They traded a few jabs, neither landing cleanly. Hieron connected on an inside leg kick. Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Ellenberger. Tough, close round to score, but Ellenberger had the more significant offense during the round.

ROUND TWO: Ellenberger landed a leg kick to start the round. He missed an uppercut and Hieron landed a good counter to the temple. Hieron threw a kick high that was blocked. Hieron landed a jab. Ellenberger shot in and scored a big takedown in the center of the cage. Ellenberger tried to work in some short forearms and elbows as Hieron tried to control him. Hieron kicked Ellenberger off and got to his feet. Hieron got cut open from this elbows. Either that or it's from his nose. Looks like the bridge of the nose from this vantage point. They traded some leg kicks. Hieron landed a jab and Ellenberger's counter missed. Hieron missed a spinning back fist. Ellenberger threw a kick that was blocked, then he blocked a couple from Hieron. Hieron landed a good left before the round ended.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Ellenberger. Another close round. Ellenberger has a slight edge again with the takedown and damage done, but it's not a blowout at this stage.

ROUND THREE: The crowd cheered for Minnesota Viking Jared Allen in the crowd, then cheered when he acknowledged the chant. That wasn't for the first minute of the third round, which was very tentative. Hieron then landed a kick low, and Ellenberger received time to recover. Ellenberger missed a big punch, but he scored a brief takedown as he drove through. Hieron popped back to his feet though. He threw a spinning back fist that was blocked, but connected on a good leg kick. The crowd got restless again with very little action taking place. Ellenberger landed a hard leg kick to the outside. Ellenberger landed a short combo after eating a leg kick. The action continued at a tedious pace as time wound down, and the crowd booed once more. Ellenberger rushed in and landed a knee after his takedown attempt was stuffed. The fight wound down to a chorus of boos, then Ellenberger landed a strike at the end.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Ellenberger. Hieron didn't do much, and though Ellenberger didn't either, it was just more than what we saw from Hieron. Not a good fight.

WINNER: Ellenberger via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

STAR RATING: (*) It wasn't much of a fight. Ellenberger did enough to take the decision, but so very little actually happened throughout the bout. It wasn't that the action was bad when the fight had spurts, it's just that there wasn't much of it, and the pace was quite tedious. That didn't make for an enjoyable bout.

MAIN EVENT FIGHT TEN: TRAVIS BROWNE VS. ANTONIO "BIGFOOT" SILVA (HEAVYWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Browne landed a big overhand right that had Bigfoot backing up. Bigfoot landed a jab. Browne went for a couple of high kicks. Silva landed a left. Browne tried to goad Silva into engaging. He threw a couple of wild punches that missed the mark. Browne caught a kick that tripped Silva up briefly. Browne landed a big right, but Silva connected at the same time. Browne went for the overhand right. Silva landed a huge overhand right that knocked Browne to the ground! He landed a bunch more punches and Browne was out. Herb Dean gave him a chance to recover, but he also allowed him to take a bunch of extra punches. After Silva was pulled off of him, Browne tried to stand and fell back down. Dean allowed about five or six strikes too many on that one.

WINNER: Bigfoot via TKO at 3:27 of the first round

STAR RATING: (***) Huge, huge knockout from Silva to not only bounce back from two straight losses, but also to get his first UFC win and hand Browne his first career loss. That was a massive win for Silva, who can immediately bounce back into the upper-middle level of the UFC's heavyweight division.
