Next month's UFC on Versus 5 event has gotten another lineup change, as "Filthy" Tom Lawlor has been forced out of a fight with Kyle Noke on the card due to an injury in training.
The injury was first reported by Australia's Daily Telegraph, who also reports that Ed Herman will be stepping in for Lawlor in the fight.
Lawlor took to Twitter to confirm the injury, though he said it's not a real serious injury and hopes to get back into action by September.
"Just so everyone knows, I don't have a major injury, just one that leaves me out of training for the most crucial weeks before a fight," Lawlor wrote. "I apologize to [Kyle Noke], I know it sucks to prepare then have the opponent switched. Hopefully I can get on the [New Orleans] show or one soon after."
Herman steps up after making a successful return to action last month. Herman was out of action for nearly two years due to injury, but in his return fight against Tim Credeur he picked up his first stoppage win since November of 2007.
Noke looks to continue his momentum in the UFC after notching his third straight win in the organization. After taking part in The Ultimate Fighter's eleventh season, Noke has defeated Josh Bryant, Rob Kimmons and Chris Camozzi in succession, finishing all three of them.
UFC On Versus 5 takes place from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis. on August 14, headlined by a welterweight bout between Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle.
Penick's Analysis: I was really looking forward to the Lawlor-Noke matchup, but this is a great replacement fight in any case. Noke has been blasting through his opponents in impressive fashion since making his debut last year, and Herman has had a chance to shake off some cage rust with his win over Credeur. This is a good replacement fight and should be really fun for the fans in Milwaukee.
