"The second time when he folded backward over his legs, I can almost recall Dan Miragliotta kind of touching my arm, he was so close. So for a split second, I thought, 'This is it.' I mean, the way that he was falling around from the punches, I've seen fights get stopped before and I was like, 'This looks like a fight that would get stopped.' The second one where he fell backward, in my my head, I thought it was going to get stopped. That didn't cause me to stop trying to hit him. With all the preparation and the training and all the fights that I've been in before, you keep hitting him until the referee steps in. For a split second I thought he did, but that didn't stop me from attacking."

-Pat Barry comments during the UFC on Versus 4 post-fight press conference on thinking his fight with Cheick Kongo was close to being stopped by Dan Miragliotta.

Penick's Analysis: That's not a phantom recollection on Barry's part, as the replays clearly showed Miragliotta step in and make contact with him while he was attacking Kongo. Like I've stated on a couple of occasions in the last day, had he stepped away there the fight would have been done, and that's on Miragliotta. Barry, as a fighter, kept fighting on, and kept trying to attack a hurt opponent, and he made a mistake and got caught. It happens, and he's not making any excuses for his loss, but he was on the wrong end of that one, and unfortunately for him it led to his third UFC loss.
