#1 UFC lightweight contender Gray Maynard recently underwent a minor procedure to take care of a lingering knee injury, according to a report from HeavyMMA.
Maynard has been battling the knee injury for a while, but was initially planning on fighting through it for his fight with Frankie Edgar at UFC 130. However, when Edgar pulled out of their fight with a number of injuries of his own, Maynard decided to get his taken care of.
"I just had a minor scope on my knee, but everything is going great," Maynard said.
Maynard believes he'll be back into action in quick order, and should be on track for a fall return to action for a third fight with Edgar.
Penick's Analysis: This won't keep him out for long, but it's good that he's taking the time to get his injuries taken care of while this fight has been delayed. It was unfortunate to lose this fight from this weekend's card, but the positive outcome will be that both fighters will hopefully be in better shape from a health standpoint when the fight does finally take place.
