The UFC's second trip to the City of Brotherly Love just got a little bit deeper. MMA Junkie is reporting that welterweight standouts Mike Pierce and Johnny Hendricks will square off against one another at UFC 133 on August 6.
Pierce (12-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) is on a three-fight winning streak in the UFC, most recently defeating Kenny Robertson in the second round of their UFC 126 bout. Pierce's only loss in the UFC came at the capable hands of Jon Fitch. Despite the loss, Pierce managed to make a name for himself by giving top contender Fitch a much harder fight than most observers had anticipated.
Hendricks (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) is one of the most decorated amateur wrestlers to transition into MMA. Hendricks, who wrestlerd at Oklahoma State University, was a two-time NCAA national champion wrestler in 2005 and in 2006, and finished second in 2007. After taking up MMA in 2007, Hendricks started his career on a nine-fight win streak before losing to Rick Story in December of 2010. Hendricks rebounded from that loss by being awarded Knockout of the Night by the UFC for his impressive performance against TJ Waldburger at UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis last month.
