A welterweight bout between Brian Ebersole and Dennis Hallman is headed to UFC 133 this August, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.
Ebersole made his organizational debut in February, scoring a major upset in the division over Chris Lytle, snapping Lytle's four fight winning streak. A veteran of over 60 fights, Ebersole had spent the last several years of his career in Australia, where he won seven straight fights prior to the bout with Lytle. He'll fight in the U.S. on this card for the first time since 2007.
Hallman knows a thing or two about upsets, holding two victories over former UFC welterweight kingping Matt Hughes. He made a return to the UFC in 2009 after four years fighting in other promotions, and has won two straight fights since losing that return fight. Most recently, Hallman defeated Karo Parisyan in quick fashion in November.
UFC 133 is expected to take place in Philadelphia, Penn. this August, though no headlining bout has yet been announced.
Penick's Analysis: This is a solid welterweight fight for the preliminary card here. Ebersole pulled off a big upset in February, but neither of these guys will be making a run at a title shot in the UFC anytime soon, if at all, so this is a good next fight for each off their recent wins.
UPDATE: The UFC has now officially confirmed this fight for the UFC 133 card. There is still no date or location confirmed for the event.
