Thiago Silva's urine sample for his UFC 125 bout against Brandon Vera has been determined to be "inconsistent with human urine" according to Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer in multiple published reports.

The NSAC has officially filed a complaint against the Brazilian fighter due to the findings. His "A" sample came up as an "invalid result" that was "inconsistent with human urine," a finding subsequently confirmed by further testing on a "B" sample. The NSAC's conclusion is that Silva "submitted an adulterated and/or substituted specimen for testing for the urinalysis."

Per Kizer, Silva will be asked to appear in front of the NSAC at their April 7 meeting in Las Vegas. He will be given an opportunity to address the situation, and he may be subject to a suspension, fine and the overturning of his win to a "no contest" due to these findings.

Penick's Analysis: Well then, this is a different situation entirely than what was speculated. It appears he attempted to pass the urine test with urine acquired elsewhere, but how he acquired urine that wasn't even human... who knows. IThis won't be easy for him to try to explain his way out, and while whatever he was attempting to get away with using won't be known, this clearly means he didn't give his own sample. He'll likely be suspended a year for this, and I can't imagine any excuses he'll attempt to present here.
