Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann were each issued indefinite medical suspensions stemming from their three round war at last week's UFC on Versus 3 event in Louisville, Ky.

The Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority revealed the suspensions on Monday, which are currently in place until the results of the on-site doctor's examination results come back.

Both fighters will be off suspension once cleared by doctors for the damage suffered in their three round bout, which aired live on Versus from the KFC Yum! Center in the headlining bout of the night's card.

Sanchez earned a unanimous decision victory, but suffered several facial injuries in the bout that need to be cleared. Kampmann needs clearance on his right hand from an orthopedic surgeon, though what was initially feared to be a break is not expected to be.

Despite the injuries suffered and the possible layoff they're looking at, both fighters earned an extra $160,000 in bonuses for their "Fight of the Night" to tide them over.

Other fighters suspended on the night's card were C.B. Dollaway, Todd Brown and Thiago Tavares, who each received 60 day medical suspensions due to getting knocked out on the card.

Penick's Analysis: Kampmann tweeted last week that the hand wasn't broken, so he'll likely get clearance to return to action a lot sooner than Sanchez. The facial injuries inflicted upon Sanchez were such that he'll probably be barred from contact for some time. But it shouldn't be anything too serious overall for either. It was a hell of a fight and a great battle, but both definitely paid the price for it.
