The UFC has found a replacement opponent for Takeya Mizugaki for UFC on Versus 3 in March, as MMAJunkie.com reports that UFC newcomer Reuben Duran has stepped up on short notice to take the fight.
Mizugaki was initially slated to meet Francisco Rivera in the UFC debuts for both men, but an injury to Rivera took him out of the bout. Mizugaki enters the UFC off a loss to Urijah Faber at WEC 52 last November.
Duran enters the UFC with a 7-2-1 record, and a four fight winning streak in regional bouts. Six of his seven career wins have come by a form of stoppage.
UFC on Versus 3 takes place from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., headlined by the welterweight bout between Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.
Penick's Analysis: This is a good replacement for Mizugaki on this card. Duran is getting a good opportunity against a recognized name to fans of the WEC in this fight, and it's a chance for him to make an impression to the UFC on short notice. Mizugaki as well has a chance to make a statement against a fighter that many will believe he should defeat on the card. For a last-second fight, this is a good matchup.
