While the UFC and Spike TV will kick-start their 2011 "Prelims Live" schedule with UFC 126 next month, the second event of the month will not receive one of the 12 hour long specials the two sides will bring this year.
According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, UFC 127 in Australia will not feature a "Prelims Live" special on Spike, though fans in the U.K. will be getting at least one extra fight from the card from Australia.
The lightweight bout between Brit and Ultimate Fighter winner Ross Pearson and Spencer Fisher will come to ESPN in the UK, though the details on the preliminary card broadcast have not yet been finalized.
The main card for the night's event will also air live on ESPN in the UK on the morning of Sunday, February 27, as the event takes place from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The card airs live in the U.S. on pay-per-view on Saturday, February 26 with the time delay, headlined by the welterweight bout between B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch.
Penick's Analysis: It's not surprising that this event isn't getting the preliminary special here in the U.S., as with 12 to go around for the year there will be a few events they skip. An overseas pay-per-view with no title fight on the card, especially as the second of two pay-per-views in that month, makes for an easily skippable event for the specials. This will be a cool extra for fans in the U.K., though, and the UFC could still bring a couple of the fights online for U.S. fans like they have for a few events over the last couple of months.
