14-year MMA veteran Dennis Hallman had a good year in 2010. He returned to the UFC in December of 2009 after five and a half years in several smaller organizations, but suffered a knockout loss to John Howard in his first fight back.

But in 2010, Hallman picked up two consecutive wins, and has now signed a new four fight contract extension with the organization, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.

The 35-year-old Hallman is perhaps best known for a pair of victories over former welterweight king and UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes. Prior to his return to the UFC in 2009, Hallman had only appeared four times in the Octagon, defeating Hughes for a second time and losing to Jens Pulver, Frank Trigg and Jorge Rivera in bouts spread over several years.

He is 4-1 over the last two years, and in 2010 he picked up a decision win over Ben Saunders and a knockout win over Karo Parisyan that sent both fighters outside of the UFC.

Hallman is now set to meet 22-year-old T.J. Waldburger at UFC Fight Night 24 in Seattle in March.

Penick's Analysis: Hallman hasn't lost consecutive fights in a decade, and despite 13 losses on his record, he remains a good fighter that is dangerous for any opponent he faces. He's not going to be fighting for a championship anytime soon, but he'll always be competitive, and he'll pick up more wins in the UFC even if he loses a fight here or there. Good for him on the contract extension, and the fight with Waldburger should be an entertaining one for the Seattle crowd, and a hometown fight for Hallman himself considering he lives in Washington state.
