Two more names that had been floated around as possible coaches for the upcoming thirteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter have been crossed off the list. ]
At a press conference in Brazil on Tuesday to announce the August 27, 2011 return to the country for the UFC, UFC President Dana White stated that Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva will not be opposing coaches on this upcoming season of the reality show.
Instead, White stated they should know by Friday who those coaches will be, so speculation will once again ramp up. The season begins filming in January, and will debut on Spike TV on March 30.
Penick's Analysis: Another talked about pairing between former UFC Heavyweight Champions Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir seemed to be shot down shortly after it came out when news broke that Mir will meet Brendan Schaub in March. So of the names that have been mentioned, Urijah Faber remains still available. If they're waiting until Friday, it's possible Faber could coach against the winner of the Bantamweight Championship bout between Dominick Cruz and Scott Jorgensen from Thursday's WEC 53 event. However, if Jorgensen pulls off the upset I'd doubt they would put him and Faber in coaching slots against one another. However, even in that case, they could take Miguel Torres off the February card and have him meet Faber in June. Of course, they could go an entirely different direction that hasn't been rumored at all yet, so hopefully we'll get some type of answer to that sometime soon.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
