While the UFC was reportedly looking to go to Toronto's Rogers Centre in March of 2011, it's going to be awhile longer until they make their debut in Ontario.
UFC Canada head Tom Wright said on Tuesday that an event in Toronto may come in mid-2011.
"We hope to have [regulation in Ontario] completed by the end of the year, and we've already had discussions about a venue in Toronto," Wright said at the UFC 124 press conference. "[The event] might just be sandwiched between Montreal and Vancouver next year, so it will be great."
The UFC's return to Vancouver could come in June of next year, so the Toronto event may still take place prior to then. Also, Wright said during the press conference that they could potentially bring the UFC Fan Expo to town with the first Toronto event.
Penick's Analysis: The UFC's first card in Toronto is likely going to be huge, and if GSP gets past Josh Koscheck in Montreal rest assured he's one of the likely headliners. Throw in Brock Lesnar or Cain Velasquez against Junior Dos Santos and it will be a massive, massive event. Adding the Fan Expo along with that will be a great thing for the fans in and around Toronto.
