A middleweight bout between the Ultimate Fighter season three winner Kendall Grove and Goran Reljic is rumored for the July 3 UFC 116 card in Las Vegas, Nev.
A report from TrueFighting.com cites sources from both camps stating they have agreed to the match up.
Grove is coming off a TKO loss to Mark Munoz from UFC 112's "Fight of the Night." He had won the first round and continued to be effective in the second before Munoz swept him and landed a number of punches to force the stoppage. He's now 6-4 in the UFC.
Reljic made his debut at middleweight in his last fight after a near two year absence from the sport due to injury. He lost a decision to C.B. Dollaway at UFC 110 in February, marking the first loss of his career.
UFC 116 airs live on pay-per-view on July 3, headlined by a Heavyweight Championship bout between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin.
Penick's Analysis: This is a dangerous matchup for Grove and a great challenge for Reljic. Reljic had a lot of ring rust to shake off in the bout with Dollaway in February, not to mention his first weight cut to 185 lbs. Grove has been so up and down in his UFC career, it's hard to tell how long he'll stick in the UFC, as he's been threatened with cuts on multiple occasions. A loss here would make another two in a row, and would make him 3-5 over his last eight fights.
