A welterweight bout between Chris Lytle and Matt Brown is in the works for July's UFC 116 event from Las Vegas, according to a report from MMAFighting.com.
The bout is actually a rematch of a fight the two had in 2007 in the now defunct UFL, a bout Lytle won by submission in the second round.
Lytle is coming off a highly exciting knee-bar submission at UFC 110 in February over Brian Foster. The submission earned him the "Submission of the Night," his sixth "Fight Night" bonus in his last seven fights.
Brown had a three fight win streak snapped at UFC 111, losing by submission to Ricardo Almeida. The Ultimate Fighter 7 fighter is now 4-2 in his UFC career.
UFC 116 comes live on pay-per-view on July 3, headlined by a Heavyweight Championship bout between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin.
Penick's Analysis: This has the potential to be an extremely exciting fight, and the 116 card is coming together really nicely. Lytle was extremely impressive with his roll through to a knee bar against Foster, and Brown has looked good in the Octagon himself, despite his loss to Almeida last month. This will be highly competitive, and is a great piece of match making for an already solid card.
